Trust me it was anything but easy. My family become my whole life. I lost myself and my soul purpose was all about making them happy. I'm happy that you were able to easily step into the next phase of your life, I'm sure your family would be very surprised that you are now making life about you. Congrats on that. As parents we sometimes make a rod for our own backs when we do everything for our kids/husbands/friends/family etc etc. I know when i started to make it all about me, my son thought i had lost my mind and didnt' love him any more lol. No son i love you, i just love me and am making my life a little more about me and little less bout you. He got used to it. As did everyone else. Good luck with your passions. I wouldn't describe myself as lacking passion, but I certainly tamed it while my family needed me. Now that I'm initiating my next phase of life, they all seem a bit taken by surprise. I don't think I lost sight of me - my family did. You make is sound so easy, but when a spouse (and even children) have learned to expect few needs from “mom,” it’s hard to break the cycle.
